The HP PPM Project and Portfolio Management (Kintana) Suite

ByDave Goodall

The bread-and-butter application modules are Demand Management (Demand) and Change Management (Deploy).

Demand Management moves information between people and results in faster information flow between them and clear insight into the status of work requests.

Change (Deployment) Management improves service levels by using scripts to accurately and repeatably deploy software to an organization's internal servers.

Moving up the food chain, the Portfolio Management module directly supports the IT effort by providing overall insight into the payback value of the project mix.

Project Management provides day to day control of projects and resources and offers direct cost savings by replacing time intensive and not very scaleable MS Project/Excel data collection and aggregation systems.

Time Management handles automatic capture of process status and direct entry of time and resource information.

The more modules you have feeding the centralized database the easier it is to data mine the information pool to get real-time where-are-we-at operational status and aggregated value, performance, capacity, and financial information.

The diagram below shows the licensable components of the suite in logical order.
