Kintana Demand and Deliver Workflows Overview

Let's look at Kintana 'Demand' (Demand Management) and 'Deliver' (Change Management) workflows side by side:

The icon symbols represent the following:

A person making a decision.

An automated process.

'Demand
A Kintana 'Demand' workflow moves information between people using custom designed forms. As the form moves to each new step in the workflow the system automatically generates emails to let the next person know that he has work to do.

Think of this as the old inter-departmental envelope brought up to date. You do your part of the process, fill in your part of the form, put it in the envelope, tie that little piece of string round the button, and toss it back in the interoffice mail basket for Fred's attention...

In Demand workflows people icons predominate.

The single process icon here handles automatic email routing of bugs to the right QA analyst for the application.

'Deliver'
Kintana 'Deliver' workflows build and move software products between environments (servers).
These can be anything : files, xml objects, web pages, application programs, SQL scripts.

As a change request moves to each new step in the workflow pre-defined objects can execute processes such as running SQL scripts against target databases.

In 'Deliver' workflows there are many more process icons.

The process icons here execute scripts to move software onto individual servers in two environments.
